This is an 8-hour SFST refresher course designed to improve the administration and overall consistency of the Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) Battery. Our mission is to decrease alcohol-related crashes, injuries, and deaths by promoting DWI deterrence and enforcement proficiency.

 *Successful completion of the Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Practitioner Course is a prerequisite.

CraigGripentrog hasserved as an active Peace Officer with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Officesince 1994. After working for 2 years in the Jail Division as a Booking, FieldTraining Officer he was assigned to the Patrol Division. During this time he servedas a Field Training Officer, Crash Reconstructionist, and Fugitive Officer. In2004 he worked in the Professional Standards Division as the Lead Instructoruntil 2007 when he was promoted to Patrol then Traffic Sergeant. During his timein Training he was responsible for teaching in-service classes as well as the IPOBasic Police Academy. He was in charge of the Traffic Enforcement division for7 years. Currently he is assigned to Patrol as a Special Operations Lieutenantand SWAT Supervisor.

Craigholds an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Austin CommunityCollege. He holds a Master Peace Officer Licenseand TCOLE Instructor Certificate. He received the FBI-LEEDA Leadership TrilogyAward for completing the FBI-LEEDA Leadership Trilogy. Craig is a member of theTexas Association of Accident Reconstruction Specialists (TAARS), Associationof Professional Law Enforcement Emergency Vehicle Response Trainers (ALERT),Texas Tactical Police Officers Association (TTPOA), Law EnforcementThermographer’s Association (LETA), Texas Association of AccidentReconstruction Specialists (TAARS) and the International Law EnforcementEducators and Trainers Association (ILEETA).

Craig’sholds lateral duties assigned to Williamson County Special Weapons and TacticsUnit as a Team Supervisor. He has served on the team since 2001 working up toSupervisor from Operator and a Team Leader.

 In addition to his duties in Patrol and SWATCraig is responsible for the in-house training and recertification of the over150 Deputies in SFST/DWI Detection, Below 100, and RaDAR/LiDAR. He continues toassist the training Division with the teaching of EVOC. He has also instructedother agencies as well as CAPCOG in those courses.
